I finally returned home from Rokt’s yearly company retreat last night at around 1:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. EST). No matter how I plan my flights, I seem to run into delays and 8+ hour layovers. On the way there, my coworker Joseph and I spent the evening in Montréal sleeping on benches before the international terminal opened at 3:00 a.m. On the way back, my partner and I faded away for hours near our gate. I’ve come to accept the fact that significant delays are part and parcel of commercial flight now.
I’m already starting to feel the first signs of a post-trip cold sinking in, but it will be exciting to dive back into this year’s upcoming projects—both professional (some complex custom integration tooling) and personal (dropping social media).
On a positive note, I’ve finished reading four out of twenty-six of my planned books this year. I’ll follow up with a post soon outlining the list. My plan is to maintain a growing list of finished books that links to individual articles and reviews I’ve written about each.
Happy New Year!
